Budgam, Nov 18: Among the 296 Gram Panchayats in Budgam, 143 Panchayats have attained TB-free status as part of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) under the “TB Mukt Panchayat” initiative.
An official from the Health Department informed Rising Kashmir that the recognized panchayats received certificates and mementos in acknowledgment of their contributions to the “TB Mukt Panchayat” initiative.
“Out of the 296 Gram Panchayats in Budgam, 143 have been verified and confirmed as TB-free by the district’s verification team,” the official stated.
He elaborated that the health department utilizes six indicators to designate a panchayat as TB Mukt, which include the number of presumptive TB cases per 1,000 population, TB notification rate per 1,000 population, treatment success rate, drug susceptibility test rate, Ni-kshay Position Yojana, and nutritional support for TB patients under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
“The District Verification Team assessed these indicators for the TB Mukt Panchayat initiative, and all 143 panchayats were confirmed as TB-free,” the official added.
