JAMMU, Aug 05: One terrorist was killed on Saturday, while few others have been trapped by the security forces and the encounter is still going on in the dense forests of Khawas area of border district Rajouri.
“The area has been cordoned off and the encounter is still going on,” PRO Defence, Suneel Bartwal informed Rising Kashmir, while adding, “the number terrorists trapped in the forests is not confirmed yet”.
Meanwhile, ADGP, Mukesh Singh said that one terrorist has been killed in the encounter and the operation is still going on.
“Encounter is going on at Khawas in Rajouri and as per the ground reports one terrorist has been killed so far,” the ADGP said.
The joint operation was launched in the dense forests of Khawas area of border district of Rajouri by the Army, CRPF and the J&K Police after developing specific intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists.
On the basis of specific intelligence inputs, the Army, CRPF and the J&K Police launched a joint operation in the dense forests in Khawas area of Rajouri.
Soon after launching the joint operation ‘Bariyama’, the security forces established contact with the terrorists after which the heavy gunfight broke out in the dense forests. “The operation is still going on,” the defence PRO Suneel Bartwal further said.
It may be mentioned that the Buddha Amarnath yatra is going to start and the terrorists have been trying to disturb the pilgrimage.
