03 Days Kashmir Division Chess Championship 2023 concludes

Srinagar, January 15, 2023 – The 03-day Kashmir Division Chess Championship 2023, organized by the All J&K Chess Association in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council under AICF’s Chess Development Programme, concluded on a high note at the Srinagar Sports Club Wazirbagh Srinagar.
A total of 110 players from senior, junior, sub-junior, and girls’ categories, representing all districts of the Kashmir division, participated in this fiercely competitive event despite the severe cold weather.
Waseem Raja, Chief Executive Officer of Gulmarg Development Authority, attended the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest, commending the efforts of the All J&K Chess Association for actively engaging the youth in sports. The ceremony saw the distribution of prizes and cash money among the winners and runner-up players, acknowledging their exceptional performance and dedication.
Results Summary:
Senior Category: Adil Ashraf secured 1st position, followed by Faisal Farooq in 2nd, and Sahil Rashid in 3rd.
Sub-Junior Boys U-07: Mohammad Ibaad Gandroo claimed 1st position, Ahmad Muzaffar Lone secured 2nd, and Mohammad Salman Kolu took the 3rd position.
Sub-Junior Girls U-07: Ayzal Noor secured 1st position, followed by Filza Faheem Masoodi in 2nd.
Sub-Junior Boys U-09: Malik Mohammad Issa secured 1st position, Sameem Iqbal Samoon secured 2nd, and Mohammad Amaad Khan secured 3rd position.
Sub-Junior Girls U-09: Huda Jan secured 1st position, followed by Zoya Shah in 2nd.
Sub-Junior Boys U-11: Ehaan Sajad secured 1st position, Mufasir Hussain secured 2nd, and Mohammad Qasim Bhat secured 3rd position.
Sub-Junior Girls U-11: Fatimut-ul-Zohra secured 1st position.
Sub-Junior Boys U-13: Ahmad Ali Gowhar secured 1st position, Mohammad Faiq Sofi secured 2nd, and Buruj Khataab secured 3rd position.
Sub-Junior Girls U-13: Fatima secured 1st position, followed by Masooma Zainab in 2nd, and Zainab Ameer Bakhshi in 3rd.
Junior Boys U-15: Muhammad Moatasim Wani secured 1st position, Raja Zahir Khan secured 2nd, and Shiekh Mohammad Hammad secured 3rd position.
Junior Girls U-15: Uzma Iqbal secured 1st position, followed by Areeba Shabir in 2nd.
Junior Boys U-17: Qazi Saaid Waqas secured 1st position, Mauzam Mehraj secured 2nd, and Sahil Manzoor Rather secured 3rd position.
Junior Girls U-17: Mahnoor Adfar secured 1st position.
Junior Boys U-19: Faizan Shabir secured 1st position, followed by Mohammad Tehseen in 2nd.
Malik Humza Bin Zaid was awarded the youngest participant in the senior open category, Syed Soliya Nazir was awarded the best woman of the tournament, and Hamza Malik was awarded the special player of the tournament.
