No traffic on Sgr-Jmu highway today

Srinagar, 03 Mar: Due to maintenance and repair work, the 270-kilometre Srinagar-Jammu highway will remain closed for vehicular traffic on Friday.  No traffic will be allowed between Navyuga and Nashri tunnel till Saturday morning onward, official said.
SSP Traffic NHW, Mohita Sharma said in view of the dry day, no traffic was allowed between Ramban and Banihal from 6 AM on Friday till 6 AM on Saturday (11th March). Passengers moving toward Doda-Kistawar will be allowed however no vehicle will be allowed toward Srinagar.
“No LMV or HMV (except the medical emergency vehicle) will be allowed to ply on NH-44 between Nashri Tunnel towards Navyuga Tunnel and vice-versa from 6.00 AM on Friday till 6.00 AM on Saturday, she said.
Earlier in February, on request of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), J&K administration announced dry days highway between Nashri and Banihal to undertake important repair and maintenance work in the wake of damage caused by landslides, mudslides and shooting stones.
The highway is the only all-weather road linking Kashmir with the rest of the country.
