DC B'gam chairs Block Diwas at remote Sitaharan village in Khag block

Budgam, Dec 07: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, S F Hamid on Wednesday chaired a mega Block Diwas at remote Panchayat HalqaSitharan in Block Khag.
Among others, SDM Beerwah, Taufeeq Gazi, Engineers from various engineering wings, DSHO, Tehsildar, BMO, BDO and other district officers and officials attended the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, DC said that the area has huge tourism potential and special focus is being given on its development. He impressed for speedy completion of developmental works in the area.
He stressed on concerned that work on road projects be taken up for early execution and ensure better connectivity to the local population.
SF Hamid instructed concerned department to carry out repair work on Khag- Sitharan road and interior links on priority besides survey of macadamizationof  Sitharan- Chill road be conducted also.
DC urged locals to register for Sehat cards to avail health insurance benefits up to Rs. 5 lakh. He also listened to the locals and redressed their grievances on spot.
On the occasion, PRIs and respected locals from different villages of the block and adjacent villages apprised the DC about their needs.
After giving patient hearing to the public, the DC said special focus is being given to this area given the fact it falls within picturesque Tosamaidaan belt.
He instructed concerned to ensure improvement works in the health, education, power sector and other areas to ensure holistic development of the area.
Meanwhile, locals expressed gratitude to District Administration for extending full support to address grievances of locals of far- flung areas amicably.
On the occasion, officers of District Administration informed locals about various schemes, especially the one time PDD amnesty scheme and urged consumers to avail benefits under it.
Asserting on cleanliness and sanitation, the DC urged the PRIs and locals to ensure complete ban on single use plastic items and proper garbage disposal, besides construction of compost and sockage pits for solid waste and liquid waste management.
