Bandipora, May 30: In connection with World No-Tobacco Day, the NSS Unit and Red Ribbon Club of HKM, College Bandipora on Thursday organised a painting competition to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption. The theme for the painting competition was ‘Dangers of Using Tobacco’.
Students from various disciplines participated with great enthusiasm, showcasing their creativity and concern through symbolic combinations of colours and images. Their artworks poignantly depicted the perils associated with tobacco use, highlighting its impact on health and well-being.
NSS Program Officers and Red Ribbon Club officers encouraged the students and appreciated their efforts. The competition was judged by a panel of faculty members including Dr M Sheikh ul Ashraf from the Department of Botany, Prof Mohammad Salim Bhat from the Department of Environmental Science, and Dr Irshad Ahmad Bhat from the Department of Physics.
The panel evaluated the artworks based on creativity, relevance to the theme, and the message conveyed.
On the occasion, Tufail Rehman bagged the first position while Iqra Aijaz and Mehreen Fida bagged 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
The painting competition not only provided a platform for students to express their views on a critical issue but also fostered a sense of responsibility towards public health.
