Srinagar, June 02: In the run up to World Environment Day 2025 under the theme of ‘One Nation, One Mission: End Plastic Pollution,’ District Administration Srinagar continues  awareness programmes in the City as part of nationwide mass mobilization campaign aimed at raising awareness about the urgent need to end plastic pollution.

In this regard, following the directions of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, Social Forestry Block Srinagar today organized a comprehensive environment awareness programme by launching a cleanliness drive at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Pantha Chowk.

The event aimed to highlight the severe consequences of plastic waste on the environment and human health, and to encourage sustainable practices among students and staff to combat this growing menace.

A pledge taking ceremony was also organized, during which students, teachers, and staff of the Social Forestry department promised to play their part in reducing the use of plastic and keeping the environment clean.

The programme was organised by Block Officer Social Forestry, Srinagar and School Education Department.
