Workshop on Entrepreneurship and Intellectual Property Rights begins at SKUAST-K

Srinagar, June 25: Four days workshop on Entrepreneurship and Intellectual Property Rights on Tuesday got underway at SKUAST-K, Shalimar.
The workshop organised jointly by ICAR- National Academy of Agricultural Research & Management &SKUAST- K Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship Centre under National Agricultural Higher Education Project- Component –II aims at increasing the awareness about Intellectual Property Rights and Entrepreneurship opportunities in Agriculture & allied sector. 20 scientists & 50 students from different faculties are attending the workshop.
The Resource persons include Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao Director, ICAR-NAARM, Dr. S. K. Soam Sr. Scientist ICAR NAARM, Dr. Anuradha Aggarwal ADG ICAR, Dr. Jyoti Kachroo Head Agri Businss SKUAST-J, Dr. Sudeep Marwah, P.I NAHEP, Prof. Rehana Habib Kant, Dean, FOA SKUAST-K, Prof. Azmat Alam Khan OSD to Vice Chancellor Mr. Shardul Vikram Technocrat & Business Consultant, experts from industry, several faculty members from SKUAST-K & successful entrepreneurs.
Speaking in the inaugural session Vice Chancellor highlighted the importance of goal setting, critical thinking & creativity. Dr. Anuradha Aggarwal complimented SKUAST-K for successful implementation of the IDP- NAHEP and rated the performance of IDP-NAHEP as excellent. She quoted DDG Education ICAR saying that SKUAST-K had over-achieved all its targets under IDP-NAHEP. Director ICAR- NAARM Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao talked about various initiatives in Agri-preneurship, agri-business management.
Dr. S. K. Soam gave the brief outline of the programme and later during the day talked about Intellectual Property systems in India. Director Research Prof. Haroon Naik, OSD to Vice Chancellor Prof. Azmat Alam Khan & CEO SKIIE Dr. Naveed Hamid were the other speakers during the inaugural session. SKIIE Centre’s Annual Calendar and SKUAST-K Patent wall were also released during the event.
The collaboration between SKUAST-K and NAARM Hyderabad marks a significant milestone in promoting entrepreneurship and protecting intellectual property in the agricultural sector. Both institutions look forward to more such joint endeavours to empower the next generation of agri-preneurs.
