Srinagar, Jun 04: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday organised a convention for party workers in the Lal Chowk constituency in Srinagar, which was presided over by senior leader Mehboob Beg.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from dedicated party members and prominent leaders, including Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, Mohammad Khurshid Alam, Abdul Haq Khan, Anjum Fazli, Arif Laigroo, Abdul Qayoom Bhat, and Mohammad Yaseen Bhat, the party said in a statement issued here.
The convention focused on strengthening grassroots engagement and empowering party workers to address the challenges faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
PDP leaders reiterated the party’s unwavering commitment to advocating for the region’s core issues. Mohammad Khurshid Alam and Abdul Haq Khan criticised the National Conference government for its “failure” to fulfil electoral promises.
“PDP president Mehbooba Mufti was lauded for her consistent efforts in championing the aspirations of Kashmiris,” the statement said.
Zuhaib Yousuf Mir, a senior PDP leader, raised serious concerns over the alleged termination of government employees and the imposition of the Public Safety Act (PSA) on youth following the Pahalgam attack. He condemned the present government’s silence on these critical issues and called for accountability.
The convention concluded with a renewed pledge to galvanise party workers and strengthen PDP’s resolve to address the pressing concerns of the people of Jammu and Kashmir through collective action and dedicated public service, the statement added.
