Srinagar, Oct 24: Several delegations from the PHE Workers Welfare Associations (Daily Wagers Wing) of Kashmir province on Thursday met with the Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment, and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, to discuss their issues and concerns.
A delegation led by the president of the PHE Workers Welfare Association and other workers highlighted the pressing issues faced by daily wage and temporary employees of the department.
The major demands presented to the minister included the regularization of all daily wagers after seven or more years of service, the fixation of minimum wages for each category of daily wagers in PHE, the adjustment of dependents of deceased daily wagers on humanitarian grounds, and the clearance of pending wages.
Rana listened to the workers’ issues and assured them that their genuine grievances would be addressed on a priority basis. He reiterated the commitment of the Omar Abdullah-led government to work for the welfare of the common masses, including employees from all sectors.
