Srinagar, Nov 27: Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain on Monday said that there is no question of stepping back and battle against terrorism is not over in the Union Territory (UT) yet as war ends only when one side accepts defeat.
Addressing the reporters during an event at Gurdwara Chattipadshahi, DGP Swain said that war against terrorism in J&K is not over yet.
“War ends only when one side accepts defeat and acknowledges that bloodshed is not going to yield any result. So our fight against terrorism will continue despite bearing some losses at times,” the DGP said.
DGP Swain affirmed that there is no consideration of the police retracting from the ongoing efforts against terrorism. “There is no question of stepping back,” he said.
Responding to a question regarding infiltration, DGP Swain acknowledged that infiltration levels might fluctuate, rising or falling at different times. However, he stated that this information is not meant for public disclosure.
On the occasion of Gurupurab, while paying tributes to Guru Nanak Devji, the DGP expressed that during this sacred time, the police renewed its dedication to serving the people.
He highlighted the relevance of Guru Nanak Devji’s teachings in contemporary times, emphasising equality and the absence of distinctions between the poor and the rich.
“Guruji’s teachings can enlighten any soul even today, advocating for equality irrespective of caste, color, and creed. On this occasion, I extend my wishes to the Sikh community of J&K,” DGP Swain added.
