Rajouri, March 7: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) is set to undergo significant infrastructure and academic enhancements, following the approval of a major funding allocation by Vice Chancellor Prof. Jawaid Iqbal.
The initiatives reaffirm the university’s commitment to academic excellence, student welfare, and research advancement. The approved projects focus on hostel facilities, sports infrastructure, academic resources, and research capabilities, with notable allocations include—construction of a Nursing Girls’ Hostel (G+1) – Rs 375 lakh, indoor games stadium (200-seat capacity) – Rs 550 lakh, new main gate – Rs 75 lakh, conference hall enhancement (School of Biosciences & Biotechnology) – Rs 28 lakh, upgradation of nutrition, community lab (Nursing College) – Rs 30 lakh, establishment of a central Instrumentation Facility – Rs 50 lakh, basketball courts (near Health Centre & Girls’ Hostel) – Rs 5 lakh & Rs 12 lakh, badminton court for girls – Rs 5 lakh, toilets for differently-abled individuals – Rs 5 lakh, strengthening of solid and e-waste management – Rs 15 lakh, expansion of University Wi-Fi campus network – Rs 50 lakh, procurement of laboratory equipment (School of Engineering and Technology) – Rs 100 lakh and strengthening of biosciences and biotechnology laboratories – Rs 150 lakh.
Speaking on the developments, Prof. Jawaid Iqbal stated, “These initiatives will greatly benefit students and faculty by providing modern infrastructure, advanced laboratories, and upgraded sports facilities. The university remains committed to fostering a world-class learning environment.” These upgrades are expected to significantly enhance academic and research capabilities while ensuring a better student experience at BGSBU.
