Bandipora, August 23: Former Minister and Ex-MLA Bandipora, Usman Majid, has expressed deep concern over the heavy hailstorm that has hit several villages of Bandipora, including Mantrigam, Pazalpora, and Kralpora, causing extensive damage to crops and fruit orchards.
In a statement issued here, Majid said that the sudden hailstorm has left farmers and orchardists in distress, as their standing crops and produce have suffered heavy losses. He urged the District Administration Bandipora to immediately depute a special assessment team to the affected villages in order to evaluate the scale of damage and take swift measures for relief and compensation.
Majid emphasized that agriculture and horticulture remain the backbone of Bandipora’s economy, and any natural calamity directly affects the livelihood of hundreds of families. He stressed the need for timely support so that the affected farmers do not suffer irreparable losses.
While extending solidarity with the farmers, Majid appealed to the concerned authorities to ensure that adequate relief is provided at the earliest, and necessary steps are taken to safeguard the interests of the farming community in these difficult times.
