Jammu, Feb 04: Three persons were fired upon in the Mandal area of Jammu by unknown assailants on Tuesday evening, officials said.
A police official told Rising Kashmir that around 6:15 PM on Tuesday, approximately 4-5 unidentified individuals arrived in a grey Alto car (without a registration number) and fired 2-3 rounds at a group of people sitting in a field near the Panchayat Ghar, Mandal.
“The individuals have been identified as Arun Choudhary, son of Janak Raj, a resident of Phalian Mandal; Sachin Choudhary, son of Ashok Kumar, a resident of Village Parladpur, Phalian Mandal; and Monmohan, son of Subash, a resident of Phalian Mandal,” he said.
The police officer said that upon hearing the gunshots, they panicked and fled the scene.
“The assailants also damaged vehicles parked at the location, including a WagonR (Reg. No: JK02AK-5755) and a Scorpio (Reg. No: JK02DL-9921),” he added.
Meanwhile, the concerned police team has reached the spot, and further details are awaited.
“Massive search operation is underway to track the accused involved in the attack. It seems like a gangster war and there is no terrorist involved in this incident,” he said.
Earlier, on January 21, a person was shot dead in broad daylight at a busy Jewel Chowk, Jammu, following which the police arrested five accused on Monday by Jammu Police.
