Budgam, May 27: Two separate fire incidents occurred in Churmujroo village and Beerwah main town in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday, causing extensive damage to residential and commercial properties.
An official from the fire station at Beerwah told Rising Kashmir that they received an early morning call about the fire incident. He said fire tenders immediately arrived at the scene and managed to bring the blaze under control.
“However, eight shops, including a medical laboratory, gym centre and advocate chamber suffered severe damage,” he said.
The estimated property damage from the Beerwah fire incident is around 80 lakh rupees.
In Churmujroo village, the fire completely destroyed a cowshed. Additionally, a two-storey building sustained damage to its windows and doors, while a tipper with registration number JK04 8044 suffered partial damage.
The property damage from the Churmujroo fire incident is estimated to be around 60 lakh rupees.
Adil Mukhtar, a resident of Sadipora Beerwah, said he had invested over 32 lakh rupees to establish a medical laboratory in 2019.
“I have spent all the earnings of my parents and taken a bank loan to set up this laboratory. Now, all the equipment in my laboratory has been fully damaged. I have also lost my source of income. Now I feel helpless and hopeless,” he lamented.
Adil has appealed to the J&K administration and the general public for support to rebuild and restart his laboratory.
