Jammu, July 28: Surendera Verma’s intense dramatic creation “Marnoprant” captivated audiences at Natrang’s Sunday Theatre. Directed by Balwant Thakur, the play was presented at the Studio Theatre, offering viewers a fresh theatrical experience. Two seasoned actors showcased their process of character development, transitioning from reading to ultimate stage performance, reflecting their 50 years of stage acting experience.
“Marnoprant” delves into the complexities of man-woman relationships through a triangular love story. The plot unfolds after the death of a young woman, whose husband and lover meet for the first time. Their encounter exposes the intricacies of their relationships and the frustrations of extramarital affairs. The dramatic tension escalates when the husband discovers his wife’s infidelity posthumously, realizing she had almost abandoned him for her lover. The play’s intellectual and experimental design reveals deep inner conflicts.
Arvind Anand, portraying the lover, demonstrated his five decades of acting prowess, captivating the audience with his command over the character and emotional depth. Neeraj Kant, playing the husband, matched Anand’s performance with his versatility and impressive acting skills. Both actors delivered engrossing performances.
