TRF terrorist killed in Shopian encounter

Srinagar, Nov 09 : A terrorist affiliated with proscribed terror outfit The Resistance Front (TRF), was killed in an encounter with security forces in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday, police said.
A police spokesman said that acting on specific information regarding the presence of terrorists in village Kathohalan area of district Shopian, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Shopian Police and Army (02 Rajput) in the said area.
“During the search operation, as the joint search party approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorist fired indiscriminately upon them, which was retaliated effectively leading to an encounter,” he said.
The spokesman said that in the ensuing encounter, one local terrorist identified as Maiser Ahamd Dar alias Adil son of Ghulam Nabi Dar resident of Vishroo Payeen, linked with proscribed terror outfit TRF was killed. Later his body was retrieved from the site of the encounter.
Meanwhile, police recovered incriminating materials, arms & ammunition from the site of the encounter. All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation, he said.
The spokesman said that in this regard a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation is in progress.
“People are requested to cooperate with police till the area at the encounter site is completely sanitized and cleared off all the explosive materials, if any, “he added.
