Srinagar, Jan 14: KVK Ganderbal kick started a three days training programme on “Preparation of Nutri-Mix Formula for Lactating and Pregnant Women at Shuhama campus of KVK in collaboration with Office of the Mission Director J&K Rural Livelihoods Mission. About 30 beneficiaries from various Self Help Groups (SHGs) of district Ganderbal participated in the training programme.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Nazir Ahmad Ganai, SKUAST-Kashmir in his address focused on the importance of nutrition in pregnancy and lactation. He also highlighted the role of optimal nutrition for the continuum beginning at pre-conception, during pregnancy, at birth and at lactation.
Dr. Shaheen Farooq, Scientist KVK Ganderbal appraised the participants about the importance of nutrition in women and insisted participants to get benefit from the collaborative programme.
Technical session started with a comprehensive lecture on “Importance of nutrition in pregnant and breastfeeding women” followed by a practical demonstration on preparation of nutritive chickpea bars.
