Kulgam, Feb 10: A lineman of the Power Development Department (PDD) sustained some burn injuries after receiving an electric shock in the Manzgam area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district here on Friday evening.
The injured lineman has been identified as Mohammad Ramzan Ahangar, son of Ghulam Nabi Ahangar, a resident of Manzgam.
Abdul Lateef, his colleague, told Rising Kashmir that Ahangar was repairing an electric wire when he came in contact with a live wire and received an electric shock.
“We took him to District Hospital Kulgam. Then he was referred to SKIMS Srinagar,” he said.
Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), Damhal Hanji Pora, Fayaz Ahmad said the investigation into the matter has been initiated. “We have already provided our teams with the protective gear. Now, the investigation will determine whether the power supply was cut off and if proper permission was obtained before repairing the wire,” he said.
