Doda, JUNE 27: Two separate accidents in different areas of Doda district have resulted in the loss of six lives and left twelve individuals injured. One critically wounded person has been transferred to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu (GMC-J) for advanced medical treatment.
The unfortunate incident occurred when a passenger vehicle Trax, en route from Bani area of Kathua district in the Jammu region to Doda, met with a tragic accident. According to Abdul Qayoom, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Doda, the accident took place approximately 2-3 kilometers away from Chattargalla. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident occurred due to over-speeding, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
As a result of the driver’s loss of control, the vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge, claiming the lives of five individuals. Promptly, rescue teams, aided by local residents, rushed to the scene and promptly shifted the injured to the nearby hospital.
“The critically injured individual was subsequently airlifted to GMC-Jammu,” confirmed SSP Abdul Qayoom. Meanwhile, the remaining injured victims are responding well to treatment and are currently out of danger. The unfortunate accident transpired at approximately 1:30 pm in the afternoon.
In a separate incident that occurred last night in the Bhalla area of Doda district, one person tragically lost their life. The vehicle involved in this accident also veered off the road and plummeted into a deep gorge.
The authorities are actively investigating both accidents to determine the precise causes and circumstances surrounding these devastating incidents. The local community is mourning the loss of lives and coming together to support the injured and their families during this challenging time.
