Tourism Department organises ‘Dance platform Season 1’ at Teachers’ Bhawan Gandhi Nagar

Jammu, Oct 16: The Department of Tourism, UT, J&K in collaboration with Bee True Trade on Sunday organized a one Day Dance Platform Event here in the Teachers’ Bhawan Gandhi Nagar.
 The purpose of the event was to create awareness amongst the younger generation about the fatal consequences of drug menace and encourage them to be part of ‘War on Drugs’. The event was held as a part of the NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan, which was recently launched by the Government of India.
The event also provided an opportunity to the people of Jammu to be united and take a stride towards making Jammu ‘NashaMukt’ and commit ourselves towards a drugs free society.
To make society free from all kinds of harmful addictions and drug abuse, the NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan was launched to focus on Institutional support and also on community outreach programmes in 272 identified Districts. The department of Tourism is also organizing activities which are beneficial for the society and keeps the younger generation aware about the ill practices prevalent in the communities. Similar activity was organized during the recently concluded SurinsarMansar Lake Festival at Surinsar.
 The ‘Dance platform Season 1’ event at Gandhi Nagar Jammu was attended by Vivekanand Rai, Director Tourism, Jammu as Chief Guest,   Suniana Sharma Mehta, Joint Director Tourism Jammu, Prof. Manoj Dhar, Former Vice Chancellor University of Jammu. Besides, the event was attended by prominent personalities such as Dr. Vinod Sharma, Director Ram Nagar Campus, University of Jammu, Javed Ahmed, Dy. Sp. Operations, Jammu, Albeena Malik, Dy. Sp. Railways Jammu.
Also the event was witnessed by famous Bollywood Choreographer   Kartik Raja who travelled all the way from Mumbai to City of Temples and also gave a mesmerizing special performance on the occasion.
Scintillating performances were presented by the young achievers from various districts of Jammu region. Achievers of national and international repute also presented spell bound performances on Gymnasium, semi classical, Dogri folk, contemporary and other popular dance forms.
