Jammu, Nov 17: One terrorist was gunned down by the security forces in a joint operation during a fierce encounter which broke out between the security forces and the terrorists in Behrote Budhal area of Rajouri district of Jammu region.
The Combing and Search Operation (CASO) was launched jointly by the Army, CRPF and the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Friday morning after receiving specific inputs about the presence of terrorists, officials said.
The encounter broke out in the afternoon after the security forces approached the terrorists.
“In the afternoon at around 2 PM to 3 PM the encounter between the security forces and the terrorists started,” PRO Defence, Suneel Bartwal, told Rising Kashmir, while adding, “2 to 3 terrorists are being trapped and the search operation is underway”.
“While moving towards the target house, the terrorists opened fire on forces from inside the house,” the Police spokesman said, adding, “the exchange of fire continued for some time and during ensuing operation one terrorist was killed”.
The details of recoveries include, one AK 47, three magzines, two Chinese grenades and 70 live rounds of AK 47. A case FIR Number 128/2023 U/S 307, 120 B,121, 122 IPC; 7/25/27 Arms Act, ¾ Explosive Substance Act has been registered at Police Station Budhal of Rajouri. The identity of the killed terrorist is being ascertained, the Police said.
