Srinagar: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday informed the Assembly that the proposed water transport facility on the river Jhelum, connecting Pantha-chowk and Lal Chowk, is currently under the tendering stage.
The statement came in response to a query raised by National Conference MLA Sheikh Ahsan Ahmad Pardesi, who asked whether the government intended to start a water transport service between the two locations, and if so, when it would be operational.
Responding to the question, CM Omar Abdullah, who also holds the portfolio of Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD), stated that the project is progressing and is at the tendering stage. “The project is currently under the tendering process, and we are working towards moving it forward. However, a specific timeline for its completion has not been determined yet,” he said.
