Srinagar April 29: CPI(M) leader Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami on Monday urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) not to postpone polls in the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat.
Tarigami addressed a press conference here after the ECI sought a report from the Chief Secretary and the Chief Electoral Officer on representations submitted by some parties seeking rescheduling of elections in the constituency due to bad weather conditions.
“The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and some parties, which are not fighting elections, are hatching a conspiracy to reschedule polls, citing bad road conditions on the Mughal Road. Such steps will harm the electoral process in J&K and the credibility of the Election Commission,” the CPI(M) leader said.
