Jammu, Dec 10: The Swachh Bharat BIG Cricket League 2024 entered its thrilling quarterfinal stage on Day 7 at Kot Tawa, delivering two action-packed matches that set the tone for the competition’s climax. Organized by 92.7 BIG FM in collaboration with the Department of Rural Sanitation, J&K, the tournament blends cricketing excellence with the noble message of cleanliness under the theme “Let’s Swing for Swachhta.”

The first quarterfinal match featured Chief Secretary XI against District Administration Samba XI. Winning the toss, Chief Secretary XI elected to bat first and capitalized on the decision by posting an imposing total of 197 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Shahid emerged as the star of the match with a stellar all-round performance, smashing a solid 47 runs to steer his team to a formidable score and later claiming two crucial wickets. His efforts earned him the well-deserved Man of the Match title, as Chief Secretary XI advanced to the semifinals.

The second match of the day saw Shivya Ayurveda face Infra Business in a one-sided contest. Batting first, Infra Business exhibited their batting prowess, amassing a strong total of 188 runs. Amir Wani was the standout performer, contributing a brisk 50 runs and wreaking havoc with the ball, taking three wickets in his three overs while conceding just 13 runs. His exceptional all-round performance secured him the Man of the Match accolade. Shivya Ayurveda faltered under pressure and were bowled out for just 100 runs, conceding an emphatic 88-run victory to Infra Business.
The excitement continues tomorrow with the remaining two quarterfinal matches. Swachhta Strikers will take on Tawi Challengers, while Hill View Rajouri will face Mullan CC in what promises to be another thrilling day of cricket action.
The tournament is a perfect amalgamation of cricket and social responsibility, supported by the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Directorate of Rural Sanitation-J&K as the title sponsor. Presented by the Jal Shakti Department, the event is powered by SMVD Narayana Super Speciality Hospital. Associate partners include Shree Bajrang Bali Contract Company, Jammu Hev’s, and My Physio, while Aroma Multicuisine Family Restaurant serves as the refreshment partner.
