Srinagar, Feb 24:  Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Central Kashmir Police Range, Rajiv Omprakash Pande, issued a stern warning to youth, urging them to steer clear of drugs, emphasizing that it’s a dangerous trap.
Speaking to reporters in Srinagar during a drug de-addiction event organized by the District Legal Services Authority Srinagar in collaboration with NGOs ‘Kashmir Concern’ & ‘White Globe’, DIG Pande highlighted the importance of safeguarding the future generation from the perils of substance abuse.
“Those caught in the grip of drug abuse must firmly reject any notion of a ‘first try.’ The ‘first try’ is a perilous trap; it must be avoided at all costs. This message comes from both the J&K Police, DLSA, and the Civil Society of J&K to our youth,” emphasized DIG Pande.
He cautioned that involvement in such activities could lead to dire consequences for their lives. “Avoid falling prey to the pressure of experimenting with synthetic or any other drugs, especially at the behest of friends or relatives. Steer clear of such activities,” he added.
Echoing similar sentiments, Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police (DGP) RR Swain, on February 16, pledged strict action against those profiting from drug peddling. “Those profiting from drug peddlers will face strict consequences and will be ostracized from society. We will adopt a dual approach to tackle this menace,” affirmed DGP Swain.
“Our aim is to safeguard our children and youth from the threats of narcotics and terrorism. Collaborative efforts involving various departments, civil authorities, clerics, and the community are essential to effectively combat these challenges,” DGP Swain added.
“Drug peddlers will be dealt with strictly and will be isolated from society. We will follow a double approach to curb this menace,” he said.
“We aim to protect our children and youth from the threats of narcotics and terrorism. Collaborative efforts involving various departments, civil authorities, clerics, and the community are crucial to successfully combat these challenges,” the Police Chief said.
