Srinagar, Jan 24: In a dazzling display of patriotic fervour, the city of Srinagar lit up in the vibrant hues of the tricolour as numerous government buildings, including the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh Civil Secretariat, illuminated the night sky on the eve of India’s 75th Republic Day. The iconic structures were bedecked with the national flag, creating a visual spectacle that captured the essence of the upcoming celebration.
Scores of enthusiastic onlookers gathered around these illuminated landmarks, capturing the mesmerizing scenes on their cameras to commemorate the historical occasion. The Civil Secretariat, a focal point of administrative activities in the region, resonated with a sense of national pride as an official stated, “26th January is a day on which every Indian heart fills up with patriotic fervour and immense love for the motherland.”
In preparation for the Republic Day festivities, important government buildings in Srinagar will remain aglow with sparkling lights every evening until January 29, culminating in the Beating the Retreat ceremony.
The theme for the Republic Day 2024 parade, set to commence at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 26, is ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Bharat: Loktantra ki Matruka,’ underscoring India’s role as a nurturer of democracy. The event will unfold at Kartavya Path in New Delhi, captivating the audience for approximately 90 minutes.
