Budgam, Nov 26: Prominent Politician Er. Zaffer Mir (Lasjan) on Saturday graced Shah Kalander cricket finale as chief guest which was organised by Chattergam sports body wherein thirty-two cricket teams had participated.

Zaffer Mir praised the youth for choosing sports activities in order to channelize their energy which remains vital for their all-round development.

“In this era where modern gadgets are keeping our youth pre-occupied round the clock, engaging in outdoor sports activities is requisite to aid in their physical and mental development. Furthermore, it inculcates the values of teamwork and leadership among the youth who must learn to work in synergy and today I can assure that our future is bright if these youths are provided with ample opportunities to excel in the field of sports,” he remarked.

Mir said the government must address the infrastructural deficiencies in the sports sector due to which our youth have to suffer colossally and their aspirations to exhibit inherent talents gets suppressed.

“I urge the LG led administration to take a prompt and holistic cognizance of the sports infrastructural requirements in district Budgam that can address the sufferings of our youth. Needless to mention at a time when youth is being consumed by reprehensible drug abuse, our collective responsibility is to counter such trends by promoting purposeful and healthy activities like sports among the youth,” he demanded.

At the end of the ceremony, Zaffer Mir distributed accolades among the triumphant team members while wishing better luck to the losing side for the next time.

“Winning and losing is part of the game but what it teaches us is team work, discipline and mutual respect. These sports games make our youth ready to bear the responsibilities of tomorrow,” he said.

Mir assured the sports organisation members and youth to remain at their beck and call while putting unrelenting efforts to make sports infrastructure at par with the rest of districts outside J&K.
