SKUAST-K holds multi-nutrient block distribution program

Pulwama/Bandipora, Nov 19: Multi-nutrient Block (MNB) distribution programmes were held for livestock (dairy and sheep) farmers of district Bandipora, Budgam and Pulwama on 9th, 12th and 19th November, 2024 respectively by Division of Animal Nutrition, FVSc & AH, SKUAST-Kashmir under National Livestock Mission project “Sustainable livelihood improvement of resource poor farmers through livestock productivity augmentation by standardization and popularization of value-added animal feed supplements in Kashmir Himalayas sponsored by Dept. of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Govt. of India.
MNBs’ prepared by the Animal Nutrition Division under the said project were distributed for the 4th time on the occasions free of cost among the fifty livestock farmers in each district.
The programmes aimed at improving the livelihood of the farmers by enhancing the productivity of their livestock through use of these supplements. The events were held at KVKs of the respective districts where Dr. Yasir Afzal Beigh, Principal Investigator of the project provided an overview and significance of the initiatives taken under the project to uplift the rural farmers’ livelihood.
In each event, the farmers shared their positive feedback, expressed their satisfactions with the project activities to significantly improve the health and productivity of their animals, and praised the efforts of the Division in this regard. Prof. & Head, KVKs’ of the respective districts while speaking on the occasions thanked the Division of Animal Nutrition for their active approach in addressing the farmers issues.
