SKUAST-K, CCFI organizes training programme on Proper Use of Agrochemicals

Srinagar, Oct 07: Division of Plant Pathology, Faculty of Agriculture, SKUAST-Kashmir in collaboration with Crop Care Federation of India (CCFI) conducted an awareness programme on ‘Proper use of agrochemicals’ on Saturday. 
This CCFI sponsored day long programme was formally inaugurated in presence of Vice Chancellor SKUAST-K, Dean FoA, Dean FoH, Director Planning & Monitoring, CCFI delegates, Heads of Divisions, distinguished scientists, students and more importantly the farmers who had come from various districts of the valley. 
After a brief welcome address by Dr. T. A. Wani, the proceedings continued with speech of Prof. Ali Anwar (Head, Plant Pathology) who justified the importance of such trainings in sustainable growth of agriculture sector. 
Guest of Honor and Executive Director CCFI, Ms. Nirmala Pathrawal, and Senior Advisor CCFI Harish Mehta highlighted the contribution of CCFI through foreign exchange besides meeting India’s national agrochemical demands and also demonstrated the safe ways and means of agrochemical use. In a brief address with full of words of wisdom, Chief Guest Prof. 
Nazir Ahmad Ganie (Vice Chancellor SKUAST-K) appreciated organizers and sponsors of the training programme and said that awareness about agrochemical use is essential for maintaining ecological balance which man has himself disturbed. While appreciated the role of agrochemical manufacturers in the upliftment of farming community through green revolution, he also emphasized on role of parents and teachers in upbringing of new generation on moral values.
Participants were also benefited through some important lectures and practical demonstrations and as a gesture that the federation also cares about farmer’s health, CCFI delegates distributed Safety Kits among all the 250 participating farmers for use during agrochemical application. 
The programme was concluded by Dr. Asha Nabi who, while acknowledging the collective efforts of SKUAST-K and FCCI, expressed whole hearted gratitude to Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University officers, Executive Director FCCI, Senior Advisor FCCI and all the participants including various Heads of Divisions, scientists, organizing committees and farmers.
