Jammu, Sept 27: Manish Sahni, president of the Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu & Kashmir unit, on Friday said that unbridled inflation and unemployment are the primary issues facing the public.
“Hollow promises—such as the return of POK and the restoration of state status—cannot divert attention from these pressing concerns,” he said.
During a door-to-door campaign in Talab Tillo, Subhash Nagar and Bakshi Nagar, party candidates, including Meenakshi Chhibber, highlighted widespread public resentment towards the BJP, particularly regarding rising prices of oil, flour, vegetables, and fruits, the party said in a statement.
During the campaign, Chhibber said, “Many believe the BJP has allowed traders and black marketers to operate freely to fund their election expenses.”
A public meeting was also held in Ward 7 to support party candidate Jai Bharat (Bharti) from the Bishnah assembly constituency, the party said.
At the event, Sahni accused the BJP of trying to mislead the public with false promises and flowery rhetoric. He criticised those who now claim to integrate POK into India, saying, “They ignored the issue during their two tenures in power.” He added that despite a five-year gap, Jammu & Kashmir has yet to be restored to statehood.
