Jammu, Jan 19: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today extended his heartfelt gratitude to voluntary organ donors and urged the public to join the noble cause of organ and tissue donation, emphasizing the life-changing impact of this selfless act.
Speaking at a program organised by Bharatiya Jain Sangathan J&K under the aegis of SS Jain Sabha J&K, the Lieutenant Governor stated, “For donors, organ donation provides a life-giving opportunity. Let us all join the efforts and make our valuable contribution to society through organ and tissue donation.” He also called for a collective effort to promote organ donation and ensure its accessibility and affordability for all.
In a personal gesture, the Lieutenant Governor requested the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO) to include his name in the donors’ list, underscoring his commitment to this important cause. He further emphasised, “Organ donation should be the life motto. This selfless act not only affects the recipients but also touches the lives of families and friends of those seeking transplantation.”
The Lieutenant Governor praised the Bharatiya Jain Sangathan for its continued efforts in inspiring people to donate organs and reiterated the government’s commitment to support social organizations and volunteers dedicated to this cause. He also urged the use of modern technology in both government and private hospitals to make organ transplantation more accessible and efficient.
To enhance awareness, he suggested setting up permanent help desks in hospitals to provide information and counter misconceptions about organ donation, as well as organizing donation camps in collaboration with stakeholders. He emphasized the importance of educating the public, especially youth, on the importance of organ donation and its life-saving impact.
Calling on the youth to follow the ideals of Lord Mahavir, the Lieutenant Governor said, “Lord Mahavir’s eternal message of Samyak Darshan – Right Faith, Samyak Gyan – Right Knowledge, and Samyak Charitra – Right Conduct, will continue to guide us on the path of non-violence, truth, and compassion.”
The event also saw the launch of the Bharatiya Jain Sangathan’s community connect program, ‘BJS Moksh Path,’ aimed at promoting organ donation among community leaders and dispelling myths about the process. Additionally, the organization introduced ‘BJS Khilona Bank,’ which provides educational toys to underprivileged children. Youth were also recognized with the ‘BJS Pratibha Samman.’
Prominent figures present at the event included Anand Jain, ADGP Jammu, Sandeep Jain (President of Bharatiya Jain Sangathan, J&K), Monika Jain (General Secretary of Bharatiya Jain Sangathan, J&K), senior officials from the civil and police administrations, and members of various social organisations.
