Ganderbal, May 27: In view of the upcoming annual Amarnath Yatra, Secretary of the Rural Development Department (RDD), Ajaz Asad, conducted a comprehensive visit to Kela Mode and Rail Pathri Baltal in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district to review the sanitation and infrastructure arrangements for the pilgrimage.
During the visit, Secretary Ajaz Asad issued clear directions to the officials to ensure the availability of adequate toilet facilities and maintain proper sanitation across all Yatra routes. He emphasized that providing clean and accessible sanitation for pilgrims is a top priority and vital to ensuring a smooth and safe pilgrimage experience.
To further strengthen infrastructure, the Secretary ordered the construction of 3,000 toilets at various key points along the Yatra route. He stressed the need for timely execution and interdepartmental coordination to meet the deadline before the Yatra begins.
Ajaz Asad also inspected the waste management plant at Sarbal to evaluate its functionality and preparedness for handling the expected increase in waste during the Yatra period. He directed the concerned teams to enhance efficiency and ensure round-the-clock cleanliness.
He was accompanied by Director Sanitation Anu Malhotra, Block Development Officer (BDO) Gund Sheikh Arif, BDO Kangan Amar Singh, BDO Ganderbal, Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Abdul Majeed Rather, Assistant Panchayat Officer Altaf Ahmad, Executive Officer Hamid Iqbal, an Assistant Engineer, and the Panchayat Secretary.
