Ganderbal, July 28: In a move aimed at improving public amenities and enhancing tourist infrastructure, the Sonamarg Development Authority (SDA) has installed a second mobile toilet unit at the endpoint of the Thajiwas trail in the picturesque tourist destination of Sonamarg.This follows the successful installation of the first mobile toilet at the starting point of the same trail, addressing a long-pending demand for better sanitation facilities along the popular route. With the peak tourist season underway and footfall surging, the SDA has stepped up efforts to ensure a cleaner and more comfortable experience for visitors.President of Beopar Mandal, Fukaan Shara, lauded the initiative, stating, “The first mobile toilet was installed at the start of the Thajiwas trail, and now, with the installation of a second unit at the endpoint by the Sonamarg Development Authority, a major demand of tourists and local stakeholders has been fulfilled.”The new facility is expected to significantly benefit trekkers, tourists, and ponywallahs who frequent the area, ensuring improved hygiene and convenience during their visit.The SDA reiterated its commitment to sustainable development, stating that such initiatives are part of a broader plan to create a tourist-friendly environment in Sonamarg while preserving its natural charm.
