Scooty rider, pillion killed in Anantnag road accident

Tragedy struck as a fatal road accident claimed the lives of scooty rider and his pillion rider in Mattan area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday.

 

 The incident occurred near the grid station hutmura, when a scooty was hit by an unknown vehicle.

 

SHO Mattan told Rising Kashmir that scooty bearing regd. No JKO3F/0890 was hit by unknown vehicle , claimed the lives of two people.

 

He said that victims have been identified as Fayaz Ah Malik -35 year old and Riyaz Ah Hajam 40 year old, both hailing from Shimhal Anantnag.

 

“Scooty rider died on the spot, while the pillion rider was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. However, the injuries sustained were severe, and succumbed to his injuries shortly after,” SHO Said.

 

He said that they have registered a case under relevant sections of law in this regard.

 

“Police have taken cognizance of the incident and are currently investigating to identify the unknown vehicle and its driver,” SHO said.

 

He said that they have dispatched both dead bodies to their families for last rites.
