SCERT launches ‘Jammu on Wheels’ to empower teacher educators

Jammu, March 25: The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Jammu and Kashmir, has launched an innovative outreach initiative, ‘SCERT Jammu on Wheels’, aimed at enhancing the professional development of teacher educators across the Jammu division. The programme was officially flagged off by Shantmanu, Financial Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary, and Director, SCERT J&K, alongside Prof. (Dr.) Sindhu Kapoor, Joint Director, SCERT Jammu, and Anjali Gupta, Principal, DIET Jammu. This pioneering initiative is designed to equip teacher educators with modern pedagogical tools, innovative teaching methodologies, and research-based best practices, ensuring a higher quality of education at the grassroots level. The first phase of the programme commenced at DIET Kud, with participation from teacher educators from DIET Jammu and DIET Kud. SCERT Jammu on Wheels is a strategic intervention to bridge gaps in teacher education institutes and ensure the effective dissemination of educational reforms. The programme seeks to create an informed, skilled, and innovative teaching community, ultimately benefiting students and the education system. Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Shantmanu highlighted the importance of continuous teacher training, stating, “SCERT Jammu on Wheels is a pioneering step towards making professional development more accessible and impactful for educators at the grassroots level.”
