Srinagar, May 27: J&K People’s Conference chairman Sajad Gani Lone on Monday expressed deep sadness over the demise of Ghulam Ahmad Kumar of Handwara.
The deceased, a noble and philanthropic figure from north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, was renowned for running an orphanage in Handwara, the PC said in a statement.
In his message, Lone said, “I am saddened to hear about the passing away of Ghulam Ahmad Kumar sahib of village Wadipora, Handwara. Popularly known as Kumar sahib, he spent his entire life grooming those who had been less fortunate.”
“He dedicated his life to establishing institutions for those who had lost their parents at a young age, commonly known as orphanages. He set up an orphanage dedicated to nurturing and educating orphans,” he added.
Paying rich tributes to the deceased’s services, Sajad remarked, “Kumar sahib was a dedicated colleague of my late father, who worked closely with him. He provided guidance and support to me personally.”
The PC chief emphasised the rarity of finding someone as selfless and devoted as Kumar. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, especially his daughter, and prayed for the departed soul, saying, “May Allah grant him jannat. May he rest in peace.”
