Bandipora, June 01: The recent transfers of patwaris (revenue officials) in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district have affected the administrative work in the Tulail Valley of Gurez as some of the officials are yet to join their new postings here.
The transfers, which were intended to streamline the administrative processes and ensure efficient service delivery, have inadvertently disrupted the functioning of revenue offices in the remote Tulail Valley.
The locals told Rising Kashmir that the absence of patwaris in the area has led to delays and difficulties in resolving land-related issues and accessing essential administrative services.
Irshad Samoon, a social activist, said the people are facing immense difficulties due to the non-availability of patwaris. He said the land disputes and property matters are pending, and without the presence of these officials, such issues remain unresolved.
“We urge the concerned authorities to address this matter promptly,” he said.
Another local resident said the unavailability of patwaris is causing significant hardships for the people. “We rely on these officials for land demarcation, inheritance matters and other crucial administrative tasks. Their absence has left us feeling neglected and deprived of our rights,” he said.
The residents of Tulail Valley have appealed to the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora to look into the matter.
Sub District Magistrate Gurez, Mudasir Ahmad, told Rising Kashmir that they have collected the details of all the patwaris who have not joined their duties in the Tulail Valley and have promptly submitted the report to the District Magistrate for further action.
“These officials were given a deadline of one week to join their respective postings, and that has already passed,” Mudasir said, adding that the DC Bandipora will now take appropriate measures to address the situation and ensure the smooth functioning of revenue offices across the district.
