Srinagar, July 12: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo, on Saturday condemned violence against healthcare professionals and urged the public to report medical lapses through proper channels while respecting doctors.“Patients come to doctors with hope. If anyone comes across any kind of mistake, they should report it, and we will take proper action. But we will not tolerate violence against doctors,” Sakina Itoo said while speaking at Triple Milestone Moment-2025 of JLNM Hospital Rainawari organised to celebrate knowledge, care and clinical advancement of the hospital.The minister appreciated the vital role of doctors and said that the true strength of the medical profession lies in their unwavering commitment, as doctors remain available round the clock in hospitals to serve patients in need.The triple milestone included ‘Allergy Alert-2025’-a conference-cum-workshop, launch of JLNM Journal and PG Research presentation.The Health Minister stressed on the importance of early diagnosis and community-based education on allergies, especially in light of environmental changes and lifestyle factors contributing to their surge.“Awareness and timely intervention are key to managing allergies effectively. Initiatives like ‘Allergy Alert 2025’ reflect our commitment towards equipping the healthcare providers and the public with essential tools to combat this growing health concern,” Sakina said.
She said medical science is evolving day by day and doctors need to keep themselves abreast with the growing advancements in medical care and research. Sakina also spoke about recent efforts of the government for amplifying the healthcare infrastructure across Jammu and Kashmir.The Health Minister praised the hospital staff for their tireless efforts and appreciated them for making JLNM a top-notch tertiary care setup in the valley. The minister said that the hospital has expanded over the years and patient care has improved.The Minister released the JLNM Quarterly Medicinal Journal titled ‘Asian Journal of Clinical Practice and Research’, the first such initiative by any district hospital in India. The journal aims to promote research, academic writing, and knowledge-sharing among healthcare professionals at the district level. She also distributed awards among postgraduate researchers for outstanding work in the medical field.The event was also attended by MLA Zadibal, Tanvir Sadiq; Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Jehanjir Bakshi; HOD Orthopaedics, GMC Srinagar, Prof. Altaf Kawoosa; Medical Superintendent Dr. Mohammad Tariq Jaan; Allergy Specialist Dr. Taha Ashraf; Deputy MS Dr. Asifa Jaan, and Media Cell Incharge, Aafaq Bashir.The workshop brought together specialists and researchers to discuss emerging trends in allergy and immunology. The event was seen as another step in JLNM’s journey toward becoming a centre of excellence in healthcare and research in Jammu and Kashmir.
