Baramulla, March 30: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar on Thursday said the festival of Ram Navami is “yet another glaring example of the massive and abundant cultural richness of the country, a source of wonder for people across the globe”.
She hoped the festival is celebrated in its true traditional fervor, amity, and brotherhood, which she said have long been the template of Indian culture and ethos.
Accompanied by various other senior officers, the DC visited the Shilpitri temple at Baramulla to participate in the celebrations of Ram Navami observed with religious fervour on the birthday of Rama, the seventh avatar of the deity Vishnu.
During the visit, the DC extended warm greetings to the Hindu community on the auspicious occasion and hoped the day augers well for the increased prospects of peace and prosperity in the district.
Dr Sehrish Asgar said, “On this great occasion, we all need to spread Lord Ram’s noble message of righteous conduct and renew our commitment to his ideals.”
Meanwhile, the DC Baramulla while being appraised about the issues gave on-spot directions to the concerned authorities to ensure uninterrupted electricity, drinking water and supply of other essential amenities at the venue during the auspicious occasion.
Thousands throng Kheerbawani Temple
Ram Navami was on Thursday celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety here at Kheerbawani Temple Tulamulla, which was decorated with lights and flowers.
Since early morning, thousands of devotees thronged to the temple and paid obeisance there. They also participated in Arti and Bhajansandhya.
Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shyambir visited the temple and paid obeisance there. He wished a happy and prosperous Ram Navami to the people and prayed for peace, prosperity and development of the Union Territory.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the arrangements being put in place by various departments for the devotees and expressed satisfaction with the arrangements being put in place.
Pertinently, the district administration had made elaborated arrangements for the devotees with regard to water and power supply, medical facilities, security arrangements, Bhandara service, arrangements for sanitation and cleanliness and other related arrangements to ensure visiting devotees may not face any inconvenience.
