Srinagar, July 28:  The Swim N Survival Society–Kashmir (SNSS-K) marked another milestone in its mission to promote aquatic sports and water safety with the successful conclusion of the RAK Therm 7th Underwater Sports Championship. The championship, held at the Water Sports Centre, Nigeen, drew an energetic and diverse turnout, featuring over 150 swimmers aged between 6 and 58 years.A statement issued here said that sponsored by RAK Therm Global, the event featured 12 competitive events—8 for boys and senior men, and 4 for girls—demonstrating the Society’s inclusive and encouraging approach to water sports across all age groups and genders. The valedictory ceremony was graced by Azad Ahmad Bhat from RAK Therm, who served as Chief Guest, alongside Imran Yousuf Wani, Senior Sales and Marketing Manager, RAK Therm. Both guests congratulated the winners and commended the organizers for their impeccable conduct of the championship. “It is inspiring to see grassroots sports like swimming gain such traction in the Valley,” said Azad Ahmad Bhat. “We are proud to support such initiatives that promote both fitness and life-saving skills.”Also present on the occasion were JKMAC Secretary Sayed Tahir, SNSS-K President Haji Shakeel Ahmad Shah, Vice President Dr. Sheikh Tariq, Secretary Yasir Yousuf Makhdoomi, and renowned swimming coach Riyaz Wani, along with the dedicated SNSS-K coaching team comprising Mohammad Faaliq Najar, Mudasir Jeelani Chasti, Owais Rashid and Mohsin Fayaz. Their tireless efforts—especially the early-morning training sessions and regular coaching—were lauded for laying the foundation for a safer, healthier, and more active youth population.  “Our coaches are not just trainers; they are mentors instilling discipline, survival skills, and sportsmanship in the next generation,” noted Imran Yousuf Wani, calling their dedication “an inspiration for the entire community.” President Haji Shakeel Ahmad Shah praised all participants for their enthusiasm, commitment, and competitive spirit, emphasizing that events like these are not just about winning, but about community building, health awareness, and life-saving education. A heartfelt vote of thanks was extended to the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Underwater Sports Association of J&K, all officials, volunteers, and sponsors, especially RAK Therm, whose unwavering support helped bring the event to life. The championship is part of a broader series of impactful initiatives led by SNSS-K, which has recently organized the 100-Day Swimming Camp, commemorated World Drowning Prevention Day, and conducted numerous water safety awareness programs across the Valley. With each initiative, Swim N Survival Society–Kashmir reinforces its vision of making swimming a mainstream sport and essential life skill in Jammu and Kashmir, fostering a culture of safety, fitness, and competitive excellence
