Qayoom, Roopali re-appointed CAC Members

Jammu, July 20: The Sub-Committee JKCA has re-appointed the cricketers of great repute Abdul Qayoom and Dr Roopali Slathia as the Members of Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) for the season 2023-24.
While Qayoom has the distinction of being a former First Class Cricketer, Skipper J&K Ranji Trophy and Coach of the same, Roopali has the honour of being a former First Class Cricketer, Skipper J&K Sr Women team and BCCI Level-2 Coach.
Roopali has served J&K as Captain for a long time, besides shaping careers of a good number of players, Qayoom has played 47 First Class matches as a seam bowler and has taken 152 wickets, with 7/57 as his best. 
“With this, the process for appointment of Selectors for different age groups has been set in motion by the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association. The applications for the same have been received which will now be placed before CAC who will interview and shortlist the suitable candidates. After the appointment of various Selection Committees, the process of selecting Coaches and Support Staff for the various teams of JKCA will commence,” said Brig Anil Gupta, Member-Administration JKCA.
He said this year the Sub-committee JKCA has completely overhauled the system of trials and Camps with the introduction of deep selection camps, physical fitness camps, skill specific camps, pre-season camps and the preparatory camps, adding that JKCA calendar unlike the previous years began in the month of April with the holding of Talent Hunt Camps. 
“So far (April-July) JKCA has held three deep selection camps, three physical fitness camps, three skill specific camps, six pre-season camps and 17 camps are proposed to be held between August 2023 to Febuary 2023,” Brig Gupta added.
“The JKCA Senior Men’s team for the first time will be participating in Buchi Babu All India Invitational Cricket Tournament 2023-24 to be conducted by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA). It is a multi-day tournament and 12 teams will be participating in this mega event. J&K team will leave for the tournament on August 17,” said Mithun Manhas, Member Cricket Operations and Development JKCA.
