Pro-tem Speaker reviews dev works in Eidgah

Srinagar, Oct 23: Pro-tem Speaker of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Mubarak Gul, today convened a high level meeting with senior officers to review ongoing development projects in the Eidgah constituency.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, along with senior officers from the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED), Public Health Engineering, Roads & Buildings (R&B), Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, and Forest Department among other concerned officials.
During the meeting, the Pro-tem Speaker emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to ensure timely completion of works in the Eidgah constituency. He called for full cooperation among all departments to meet public expectations.
Discussions were held regarding the details and status of CDF allocations including the transfer of funds from various sources such as state and centrally sponsored schemes.
The Pro tem Speaker expressed concern over encroachments on land earmarked for public projects such as schools, colleges, and hospitals. He directed the officials to identify these encroachments and take appropriate action. To address the encroachment issue particularly at Achan, he suggested installation of small cement poles for demarcation.
Additionally, he stressed the importance of safeguarding the Hokersar area from illegal colony development, proposing immediate earth filling.
To address the problem faced by the locals on account of the Achan Damping Site, he suggested identification of three more such sited at North, East and West of Srinagar City, besides fumigation to prevent it from becoming a health hazard. He also directed that no construction should be permitted near the area, underscoring the need to protect the wellbeing of local residents.
He emphasized for construction of a new water supply scheme in the Takinwari area.
Several infrastructure improvements were prioritized including installation of street lights inside Eidgah Park, CCTV surveillance adjacent to Eidgah Park and street lights to facilitate late-hour sports activities in the park.
