Jammu, Mar 06: Priya Sethi, Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, on Wednesday voiced her concerns about the “rising atrocities” against women under the Mamata Banerjee-led government in West Bengal.
“There is a poor state of women’s safety and security in the state, despite the Indian culture glorifying women as ‘Maa Durga’, Sethi said while speaking during the programme held at Aggarwal Sabha here in connection with the party’s ongoing campaign of Nari Shakti Vandan.
On the occasion, Yudhvir Sethi, J&K BJP Vice President, Parmod Kapahi, District President BJP Jammu, Purnima Sharma (Ex Deputy Mayor), Gopal Mahajan and Nidhi Mangotra Ex Corporators, Sangeeta Anand Spokesperson Mahil Morcha, Kuldeeep Kandhari, Savita Anand, Chakshu Kapoor, Asha Gupta, Anuradha Shama, Jyoti Sharma, Parveen Kerni, Raman Sharma, Arun Sethi, Rajiv Sethi and others were present. Women from all walks of life from East and West constituencies also participated in the concluding programme of Nari Shakti Vandan.
In this regard, Priya Sethi along with others listened to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s live address on Nari Shakti Vandan from the Barasat area of West Bengal wherein the PM raised serious concern over “atrocities” on women under the present government in West Bengal.
Addressing the program, Priya condemned the West Bengal government for their “lack of action against the alleged sexual abuse of women and failure to ensure women’s safety in the state”.
“On the one hand, the Modi Government has worked tirelessly to empower the women of the country, but on the other hand, the Mamata Banerjee-led government is miserably failing to secure the freedom and dignity of the women residing in West Bengal,” she said.
The BJP leader called out the West Bengal government for its inaction and demanded strict action against the perpetrators of such criminal acts. She criticized the Mamata Banerjee-led government for its “failure” to provide basic human rights to its citizens and called for rapid remedial action to ensure that women living in West Bengal feel safe and secure.
Priya called on all political parties to prioritize the safety and security of women and to take the necessary measures to ensure that women’s dignity and freedom are protected.
Yudhvir Sethi, J&K BJP Vice President, in his address, highlighted the unparalleled progress achieved in women’s empowerment under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the past decade. He hailed the transformative initiatives and policies spearheaded by the Modi government, aimed at fostering gender equality and inclusivity across all sectors of society.
Parmodh Kapahi, District President said that the Modi government’s holistic approach towards women’s empowerment encompasses economic, social, and political spheres, ensuring that every woman has the opportunity to realize her full potential and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s growth story.
“The BJP government will remain steadfast in its resolve to create an environment where women can thrive, lead, and inspire future generations,” he said.
