Jammu, Mar 19: Prior approval from the central ministry is required to bridge the salary gap between NHM employees in J&K and their counterparts in other states of the country.
This was informed in the House on Wednesday by the government in response to a question by NJP MLA, Vikram Randhawa.

Any salary adjustments for NHM employees in J&K, particularly to bridge the salary gap with employees in other states, must align with the policies set by the central government, the government said.
Therefore, such changes require prior approval from the central ministry to ensure compliance with the NHM’s objectives and budget allocations, the government said in its reply.
With the prior approval of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India, the wages of the NHM employees in J&K were revised from 15% to 17% during the year 2021-22 with 5% increase given annually to the employees, the government said.
The wages of Specialists were raised from Rs 50000 per month to Rs 850000 per month, the wages of Medical Officers (MBBS) were raised from Rs 3000 per month to Rs 35000 per month along with an additional Rs 15000 as a special performance based incentive.
The wages of Medical Officers (AYUSH) were raised from Rs 25,000 PM to Rs 35000 PM, and wages of Dental Surgeons were raised from Rs 23000PM to Rs 35000 PM, the government said.
