Bandipora, Nov 15:In a virtual address during the launch of the “Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra” outreach activities in Bandipora and Rajouri, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha emphasised the administration’s commitment to empowering tribal communities in Jammu and Kashmir since August 2019.
The event, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the birth anniversary of tribal freedom fighter Bhagwan Birsa Munda, aims to achieve saturation of flagship schemes.
Since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, tribal welfare has been given top priority, with a series of comprehensive initiatives spanning various sectors launched to empower tribal communities in the Union Territory. The “Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra” seeks to reach marginalised populations, intensify awareness campaigns, interact with beneficiaries, and enrol potential recipients, playing a substantial role in advancing socio-economic empowerment and addressing specific challenges faced by impoverished sectors.
The initiative is designed to extend benefits to those who have not yet reaped the advantages of centrally sponsored schemes in tribal areas, according to the Lieutenant Governor. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for initiating outreach activities in Bandipora and Rajouri and called for collective efforts from citizens, stakeholders, community leaders, social organisations, and the administration.
Lieutenant Governor Sinha highlighted the administration’s significant initiatives for the holistic welfare of tribal communities. He directed the District Commissioners and Administrative officials to focus on the saturation of Individual Forest Rights.
The “Hamara Sankalp Viksit Bharat” pledge was administered during the event, where beneficiaries from Rajouri and Bandipora shared their experiences through video conferencing and expressed gratitude for welfare schemes.
In other districts, outreach activities are scheduled to commence in the third week of November. A route plan for Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) vans has been prepared, and a control room has been established at both the Union Territory and District levels for overall coordination.
