Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have booked 3 notorious drug peddlers under Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS Act) in Pulwama and Sopore after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.

In Pulwama, the two notorious drug peddlers identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad  Ganie son of Late Wali Mohd Ganie resident of  Chatapora & Javaid Ahmad Ganai son of  Mohd Shaban Ganai resident of Loolipora Nehama have been booked under PIT NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.

Pertinenty, the said drug peddlers were involved in several NDPS cases and were promoting drug addiction by promoting/supplying drugs to local youth of District Pulwama.

Similarly in Sopore,  Police booked one notorious drug peddler namely Mohammad Ashraf Ganie son of Ghulam Rasool Ganie resident of Reban Sopore under PIT NDPS Act after obtaining formal orders from the competent authority and lodged him in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Jammu.

It is pertinent to mention that many cases are registered against the said drug peddler, who has been also found involved in promoting drug trade by supplying drugs to youth of various areas of Police District Sopore. Despite facing several legal actions, he failed to mend his ways and continued promoting drug trade by supplying drugs to local youth.

General public have appreciated the role of  Police for its action against the drug peddlers. Consistent efforts against drug peddlers provides reassurance to the community members that J&K Police is making all efforts to keep our society free from drug abuse.
