Baramulla, Oct 28: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, the Jammu and Kashmir police arrested three drug peddlers including hardcore drug peddlers from various areas in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police official said that a police party of Police Station Kunzer headed by SHO PS Kunzer under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg at a checkpoint established at Chandil Wanigam, Baramulla intercepted one person identified as Nazir Ahmad Malik alais SP son of Abdul Gani resident of Wanigam.
“During the search, 110 grams of contraband Charas-like substance was recovered from his possession,” he said.
The police official said that during the questioning he confessed that he had brought contraband substances from one lady namely Afroza Begum wife of Ghulam Nabi Shah resident of Sari Mohalla Singhpora Pattan.
“Upon his disclosure, Police Party of Police Station Kunzer alongwith Magistrate rushed to the house of said lady and was apprehended, contraband Charas like substances weighing 140 grams was also recovered from her possession,” he said.
In another action, a police party of Police Station Baramulla headed by SHO PS Baramulla under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Drangbal, Baramulla intercepted one person identified as Abdul Majeed Mir son of Abdul Ahad resident of Bagh-i-Islam Baramulla.
“During the search, 265 grams of contraband Heroin like substance was recovered from his possession,” police said.
Police said that Ab Majeed Mir of Old Town in Baramulla was a notorious and hardcore drug peddler in Baramulla.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Kunzer and Baramulla and investigation has been initiated.
The police urged the common masses to report any drug peddling or crime in respective areas and feel free to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112.
“People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” police added.
