Acting tough against the social crimes, police in a series of actions have arrested 07 gamblers in Baramulla and seized stake money from their possession.
A Police spokesperson said that acting on specific information regarding gambling activities at Sultanpora Pattan, a police party of Police Post Wussan raided the specific spot and arrested 03 gamblers. They have been identified as Gh Hassan Khanday son of Mohd Sultan resident of Wazpora Naidkhai, Mohd Younis Dar son of Gh Rasool resident of Arampora Sumbal & Ishfaq Ahmad Najar son of Mohd Abdullah resident of Anderkot Chan Mohalla Sumbal. They have also seized stake money of ₹ 4,820/- and playing cards recovered from their possession.
“Similarly, a police party of Police Station Pattan raided a gambling site in the orchards of Buran Pattan and arrested 04 gamblers. They have been identified as Gh Mohd Rather son of Gh Mohidin Rather, Mohd Ashraf Sofi son of Gh Qadir Sofi, Mohd Sadiq Khan son of Sonaullah Khan, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat son of Ali Mohd Bhat, all residents of Buran Pattan. Officers have also seized stake money of ₹ 5,460/- and playing cards from their possession”, he said.
“Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Pattan and investigation has been initiated.”
