Srinagar, Oct 14: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President, Vikar Rasool Wani, welcomed scores of political and social activists from the Srinagar district into the Congress Party on Saturday.
This significant influx of new members, according to Wani, underscores the outcome of the Congress Party’s people-centric policies. He appealed to more individuals to step forward and support Congress in its relentless pursuit to address people’s grievances.
Vikar extended his warm welcome to the political and social activists, led by the social activist Irfan Ahmad. He expressed hope that these new entrants would channel their efforts toward fortifying the party’s presence in their respective areas and serving the people with utmost dedication.
Speaking to the media during the event, the JKPCC President said, “Political leaders and workers from different political parties are joining Congress as they have realised that BJP and other political parties cannot do what Congress has done for the wellbeing of the people and inclusive development of India. It is the Congress Party which stands guarantee to equitable development of all sections of the people living in the country irrespective of their colour or religion.”
He criticised the BJP, stating that it has let down the people, failing to fulfill its promises made before the 2014 elections. The BJP’s policies have led to economic losses, increased unemployment, and various other challenges for the citizens, such as unprecedented price hikes on essentials and lack of development, he said, adding that despite the claims of progress, the developmental initiatives initiated by the UPA Government in J&K have suffered significant setbacks.
Addressing concerns about democratic rights, the Congress leader questioned the BJP government’s stance on delaying elections in J&K. He urged the BJP government to facilitate the electoral process instead of creating obstacles, saying that elections are an inevitable reality for J&K.
Once elections are held, it will expose the BJP’s deceptive policies and highlight their failure in serving the people, he said.
